It is a quaint little mountain town that looks like a bavarian village. We stayed at the only motel in the area that allowed dogs. Don't stay there! My friend Petro left with a huge goiter on his neck.<br /><br />We checked out <a href="http://www.ryanpatrickvineyards.com/">Ryan Patricks</a> tasting room in town, which had some great blends like the 2006 Rock Island Red. They call it a well-balanced red table wine which contains Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. That is generally a good threesome for blending.<br /><br />Anyway, we checked out <a href="http://www.icicleridgewinery.com/">iscicle ridge winery</a> on the way out of town and tasted a bunch of sugary white wines before getting into some decent reds. The winery is awesome, it is an old log cabin that has been in all kinds of swanky home magazines. Ask to see pictures of when the owners raised a baby leopard(or tiger/puma) in the cabin. We tasted and purchased the 2007 Log Home Red which is 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon for under 30 bucks.<br /><br />Our favorite winery of the Trip to Leavanworth was <a href="http://www.boudreauxcellars.com/">Boudreaux Cellars</a>. You have to make an appointment and drive to the middle of nowhere over a scary bridge to get there. Definitely worth the trip after meeting Rob the winemaker and tasting his slightly overpriced wines.
